Mueller's Testimony

Here's a report on the Mueller testimony; it didn't go as well as the Democrats were hoping. Chris Wallace says "Mueller's testimony has been a disaster for the Democrats." And it's not just the conservatives; liberal CNN commentator Toobin says the testimony was a wall-to-wall failure for the Democrats. When you've lost CNN....

There are some reports that the Republican's knew ahead of time that Mueller wasn't up to his previous standards.  Victor Davis Hanson says the "Befuddled Mueller confirmed he was a figurehead."

The reliably liberal Rachel Maddow of MSNBC says we need to hear from the people who actually did the work, since Mueller wasn't even familiar with its contents.  More commentary here on who really did the work.

The NYT is hinting that Arron Zebley actually ran the investigation. Here's the NYT article.

To wrap up, I recommend Scott Adams analysis of the Muller testimony. Scott Adams, Dilbert cartoonist, is one of the most insightful commentators around.

The governor of Texas has signed a bill making it illegal for government organizations to discriminate against Chick-fil-a.  This article has a pretty good roundup of why this restaurant chain (the third largest in the nation, after McDonalds and Starbucks) is so unpopular with the LGBTQ community.

These academics are trying to figure out why grades are going up while graduation rates are going down. Is college getting too easy?  I'm sure that dumbing down the humanities has something to do with it.

Interesting stuff from NASA on how much the recent earthquake moved the earth.

A media outlet finally notices the Epstein-Clinton relationship, Of course, we still hear nothing on the major networks.

Weekly roundup of news

Here's a fun article about the alleged economically deprived Democrat candidates.

Here's a fun article about how Trump's use of Twitter is interfering with the Democrats ability to keep their lies straight.

Rachel Workman attended the Royal School of Mines from 1909 – 1912 (the first woman to do so). Her life experiences dealing with a male dominated profession make interesting reading.

You probably saw Trump on TV saying he had a falling out with Epstein several years ago. Epstein was banned from Mar a Lago because he assaulted a girl there.  Even so, the media is working hard to connect Epstein and Trump, ignoring the connection with Clinton who took many trips to Epstein's island on the Lolita Express.

Do you wonder about those new drugs you see on TV? Turns out that most of them provide no benefit.

A new book says that the Trump team held back damaging information during the Kavanaugh hearings.

A really good women's soccer player dropped off the team because she wouldn't wear a jersey with a rainbow flag.  Here's some follow up from the goalie.

This Finnish study found no evidence of man-made global warming. Read the paper here.

The Palestinian problem will be solved by demographics.

A man who understands women.

Here's a roundup of some government jobs that pay a lot for nothing of substance.

In Sacramento County, it's illegal to work on your own car in your own garage.

A funny story about a millennial writer who has her own take on spelling.

Once again history and art is being destroyed in the name of political correctness.

Israel unveiled an ancient road ‘where Jesus walked’ to temple.

More revisionism. An Ohio school removed a plaque dating from the 1920's that listed the Ten Commandments.

In the previous blog, I had a couple of bad links that I brought over from LinkedIn.  Here is the approach to Queenstown NZ.  Sadly, I couldn't find the others.

What's it like to spend the summer at the South Pole--or the winter.

New Zealand passed restrictive gun laws in response to last years shooting. Surprise, the Kiwis are not turning in their guns.

Epstein the pedofile has been in the news lately because of his high profile friends. Clinton tells us that he has made four trips on Epstein's plane, informally called the "Lolita Express" and never to his private island.  The flight logs say Clinton made 26 trips on it. More here: damaging photos of Clinton are available.

Remember the study that found that 97% of climate scientists support anthropogenic global warming?  The analysis is wrong and a group is suing to remove it from a NASA web site.

I like Wikipedia a lot, but don't trust it for controversial issues. People are removing the connection between Epstein and Clinton and adding Donald Trump.

Salaries for women soccer players are in the news, and every politician is jumping on the bandwagon for equal pay.  However, economics clouds the picture. Here's a thoughtful discussion of the pay gap.

I was so disgusted by the outspoken Megan Rapinoe’s foul-mouthed hostility toward the President of the United States that I didn't watch the World Cup final. She should be ashamed for antagonizing half the fan base and bringing disrespect on women' soccer.

Trump's July 4th speech

Here's your chance to watch President Trump's speech on the 4th of July in front of the Lincoln Memorial. Drag the video ball forward to the 32 minute point to skip the preamble.  The crowd was huge, standing in the rain. The speech was not political: a tribute to the heroes who served this country and honoring each military organization individually with the band playing their theme and flyovers. Stick around for the ending music.

As a sound man I was pretty impressed with the sound crew. To mike a choir standing behind a band for the National Anthem and get the right mix of voices and instruments is just about impossible. And to be able to hear that soldier sing "God Bless the USA" with the Blue Angels flying overhead was amazing.

The media and some liberals predicted a tiny crowd at Trump's speech. Boy were they wrong.

The Seekers performed at this sporting event in Australia. Judith Durham has the voice of an angel.  I Am Australian has become the unofficial national anthem. The lyrics are here. Be sure and stick around for Waltzing Matilda.

Many things are full of software, and the complexity is leading to mistakes.  A software problem in the Notre Dame reported the wrong location for the fire, so it was initially ignored. A software bug led to the recall of airbags. And of course the Boeing 737 Max is full of software bugs. Read about how outsourcing the software is creating multiple hazards.

Take a look at this clever old lock.

As you know, progressives don't actually care if the poor get poorer, as long as the progressives gain power.

More on progressives. The New York Times says they have blind spots.
