Hang All the Members of the Liars’ Club?

Hang All the Members of the Liars’ Club. What about the rest? Federal prosecutors last week announced the indictment of U.S. Representative George Santos (R-N.Y.) on a host of charges, including misuse of federal campaign funds and wire fraud, almost all of them resulting from his pathological lies. Hang All the Members of the Liars’ Club?

University of Southern California social work students just sued the school, accusing the school of falsely advertising the online program and claiming it had the same offerings as USC's in-person program on campus, charging the same $100,000 tuition for both of the programs.

Teachers and other government employees will have to write monthly checks if they want to stay in their union after Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill Tuesday banning automatic dues deductions from public employees' paychecks. The anti-union bill also gives employees the right to immediately quit a union for no reason and requires unions to recertify if the number of dues-paying members drops below 60% of those eligible to join.

Before you Ddntate to the caller supporting the police or firemen, read this. A group of conservative operatives using sophisticated robocalls raised millions of dollars from donors using pro-police and pro-veteran messages. But instead of using the money to promote issues and candidates, an analysis by The New York Times shows, nearly all the money went to pay the firms making the calls and the operatives themselves, highlighting a flaw in the regulation of political nonprofits. Notice how the liberal NYT spins the article against Republicans, though mose of these callers are not so affiliated.

The January 6 tapes

The Chair of the January 6 Select Committee Just Made a Damning Admission. Tucker Carlson is locked in shredding the nonsense surrounding the January 6 riot, which has been sold to the public as a violent insurrection. The hyperbole knows no bounds as others have said that day was worse than Pearl Harbor or the 9/11 attacks, once again showing that liberals have no sense of history. Trump supporters killed Capitol Police officers; people took that seriously. And it’s all a lie. It’s also a lie that those arrested, indicted, and convicted are domestic terrorists. I’m not referring to the ones who attacked police officers; they deserve whatever comes to them. But folks like Jacob Chansley, the ‘QAnon Shaman,’ are decidedly not domestic threats.

Victor Davis Hanson. The Price of Eliminating Consequences. What is common to the pandemic of smash-and-grab, carjacking, fighting on airliners while in flight, and deadly Saturday night shoot-outs is this same apparent assurance there will be no consequences.

Former CDC Director Drops Truth Bombs About COVID's Origins at Hearing, he explained why the global pandemic most likely resulted from a leak at the Wuhan Institute of Virology rather than a natural spread to humans from animals.

Walmart will close its last two stores in crime-plagued Portland, Ore., as the city contends with a relentless wave of shoplifting that has hammered retailers. The closures, set for March 24, come months after CEO Doug McMillon warned the discount retailer was seeing a spike in “shrink” — a term the retail industry uses to address losses related to in-store theft or fraud.

Times are tough for recent college graduates.  Some of them chose the wrong major. I posted this just to include this quote from the article. Jim Fish, chief executive of Waste Management Inc., described the situation this way: “We can’t hire a truck driver to drive a trash truck for $90,000 in Houston, Texas, but I can hire an M.B.A. from a small school for $60,000, and I can get them all day long.”

Lawrence Summers on Twitter: I heard a comment from somebody in a developing country who said, “Look, I like your values better than I like China’s. But the truth is, when we’re engaged with the Chinese, we get an airport. And when we’re engaged with you guys, we get a lecture.”

Oops. That climate science isn't quite as settled. Methane warms the Earth when the gas absorbs longwave radiation. But it also cancels out some of that effect, counterintuitively, by absorbing shortwave radiation.
