Trump and the media

This article really captures the state of the media. Trump's a big mouth, journalists are villains.

You don't believe in same-sex marriage? This outstanding Colonel lost his promotion because of his beliefs. The fire chief in Atlanta was fired for the same belief, even though he is African-American.

The New York Times interviewed Jimmy Carter. He had some surprising answers.

The demise of journalistic standards: with connection to the 2016 election.

"Shall We Gather at the River" is a beautiful classic hymn. John Ford, famous for his western movies, used this hymn in no less than seven movies. Here's a short compilation on YouTube from his films.

A company wants to build a coal export terminal on the Columbia River. It would increase US coal exports by 40%. What seems wrong is that they need permits from 23 different agencies and have spent $15M already on the permitting process. All it takes is one agency to keep the project from going forward, which means just one agency run by anti-business environmentalists can over-step their authority and prevent the project from going ahead.

Seth Rich -- the Democratic National Committee staffer who was gunned down in Northwest D.C. near his home last July -- leaked thousands of DNC emails to WikiLeaks in the months beforehand. It's not safe to mess with the Clintons.

Hollywood sexism roundup

Quentin Tarantino reflects on Harvey Weinstein. Now feels ashamed he did not take a stronger stand.

Apparently Harvey isn't taking rehab seriously. Here's tales of his acting out.

Moguls and starlets: 100 years of Hollywood sexism.

Judging by Mueller's staffing choices, he may not be very interested in justice. Mueller tapped a different sort of prosecutor to lead his investigation — his long-time friend and former counsel, Andrew Weissmann. He is not just a “tough” prosecutor

More news on the Russian connection. Clinton took money from the Russians when she was Secretary of State, and then had 10 Russian spies sent back to Moscow to keep them from talking to the FBI.

This is funny. Liberals try to connect with normal Americans, and it goes poorly.

The media ignores Democrat scandals while pushing fake news about Trump. Let David Limbaugh count the ways.

So, when you're inside when the "big one" hits, what do you do? Hide under a desk or run outside? Watch the videos of building experiencing earthquakes.

Is special counsel Robert S. Mueller III, appointed in mid-May to lead the investigation into suspected ties between Donald Trump’s campaign and various shady Russian figures a choirboy? Or is he unscrupulous? The Mueller investigation has become an all-out assault to find crimes to pin on them — and it won’t matter if there are no crimes to be found. This team can make some.

Ready for single payer?

Ready for single payer? In the UK, budget cuts have led to rationing. Overweight people and smokers are being denied coverage to save money.

The Russians were using bribes and kickbacks well before the election. The FBI had the evidence but the Obama administration covered it up.  The Senate is opening up an investigation. Obama DOJ Blocked FBI Informant from Talking about Uranium One Deal. Since Mueller was in charge of the FBI, he needs to recuse himself from the investigation.

Here's a video taken in 1913 of two steam locomotives crashing head-on. This was staged at the State Fair. I'm not sure they were really going 90 miles an hour.

Back when oil was $100 a barrel, oil companies drilled in deep water, as much as two miles deep. They used really expensive drill ships, so expensive they can't drill for $50 oil. Modern ships are being scrapped just because they cost so much to park.   Here's a picture of one of these ships.

Who pays what in taxes. Walter Williams explains.

Weinstein Accusers Are Brave -- So Were Jones, Willey and Broaddrick. Where were the social justice warriors when Bill Clinton was abusing women?  And where were they when Roman Polanski was raping teenagers--they signed a petition to support him.

Thinking of sending your kids to UC Santa Cruz? Republicans are not welcome.

President Pence

Be careful what you wish for. The Left is all in a frenzy in their efforts to eliminate Trump through impeachment or by invoking the 25th Amendment. Here's a look at future president Pence.

Read the things this restaurant supports. Reaction from the Left caused them to close the business. Where is the love that liberals proclaim?

Philadelphia Eagles football players are having a religious revival. Marcus Johnson is the latest to be baptized with the team around him.

A pub in the middle of nowhere was named the world's best restaurant. The selection was made by people who use Trip Advisor, not by a food snobs. But read about the meal by this critic.

Astronomers are all in a tizzy because they recorded the collision of two neutron stars. Here's a discussion and a video of the event.

There's a new museum of the Bible in Washington DC, though something seems to be missing. Jesus.

FBI Directory Comey apparently drafted the letter exonerating Clinton before the investigation was complete, and even before he interviewed Clinton. The FBI finally released the documents confirming the allegations.

Sexual Harassment

Maureen Dowd sounds like an idiot when she smears Clarence Thomas. According to this analysis, Anita Hill was judged to be lying.

Hillary Clinton: Trump is an "admitted sexual assaulter," but allegations against my pretend husband "have all been litigated" and are "clearly in the past". Is there no end to the hipocrisy?

Nasty, brutish and fat. Of Hobbes and Harvey Weinstein.

The campus sex crime tribunals are losing. KC Johnson wraps up the score.

Rescued hostage Joshua Boyle: moron or terrorist sympathizer? Take your pick. Embrace the power of "and".

School district pulls 'To Kill A Mockingbird' from reading list; 'makes people uncomfortable. Isn't that the goal?

NCAA's 'student-athlete' hypocrisy comes full circle with North Carolina verdict. What's the value of an education if you allow for academic fraud?  Follow up: Here’s the awful 146-word “essay” that earned an a- for a UNC jock.

Religious Conservatives in the White House

Sarah Huckabee seems to be doing a good job as Trump's press secretary. She has some strong opinions about how Christians are treated by liberals.

A Christian group was banned from a fair at Oxford University. They were afraid it would alienate students.

And, UC Berkeley conservative students face insults and threats of violence. Liberals certainly aren't living up to the image of peace-loving folk.

Were you worried that the Trump hotels would benefit from his presidency? Sports teams are abandoning them in droves.

How was a communist allowed to graduate from West Point? Apparently this is just symptomatic of a general deterioration of standards.

The US is withdrawing from UNESCO. It seems the organization is heavily biased against Israel.

Puerto Rico

How did Trump do in response the Puerto Rico Hurricane? Pretty good according to this knowledgeable insider.

The inept Puerto Rican government is riddled with corruption.

This Puerto Rican policewoman says that the local government is preventing supplies from reaching the people.

The New York Times is laying off editors in the name of economy. Sometimes this results in hilarious copy.

One issue we conservatives can enjoy about the Trump administration: he keeps working to reform the court system.

Beneath Yellowstone National Park lies a supervolcano, a behemoth far more powerful than your average volcano. It could blanket most of the United States in a thick layer of ash and even plunge the Earth into a volcanic winter.

In the interest of equal time, I rather enjoyed this suggestion from Gloria Steinem on how to reduce gun violence.

What are the similarities between Joel Osteen and the three friends of Job who counsel him on how to improve his relations with God?

Gun Control

This statistician used to think gun control was a good idea. Then she did the research.

In the wake of the Las Vegas shooting, it's time to defend the second amendment.

A great video on gun control. The president addresses congress.

The real purpose of the Second Amendment is to protect the people from a tyrannical government. Liberals lose sight of that fact, especially since they love government.

The Jones Act, passed in 1920 was designed to protect the American shipping industry and jobs for workers. It is obsolete and is strangling Puerto Rico.

Does anybody know what the football players are protesting? Do they even know?  And do the Democrats ever want to win another election? Supporting the NFL players won't help.

More on the NFL protests: the right to make a fool of yourself.

People who think Socialism is a good thing need to visit Venezuela.

Don't miss this compelling story about the concussion problem among professional football players. An obscure forensic pathologist African immigrant discovered the problem and eventually prevailed despite the full force of the NFL against him.

Update: The recent movie "Concussion" was made about this doctor. I thought the article was better than the movie.

Western Politicians Should 'Stop Pretending That Terrorism Has Nothing to Do With Islam'

This Muslim scholar says that terrorism is indigenous to Islam. "Western politicians should stop pretending that extremism and terrorism have nothing to do with Islam".

Students outraged to learn economics department teaches actual economics. It seems the economists teach that capitalism works better than socialism.

Rock climbers, or people who think rock climbers are insane, will want to watch this video about a cliffside shop on the mountain.

Whatever became of the Obama administration scandals? They to get little coverage. Here's a partial summary.

Civil forfeiture allows law enforcement to confiscate property and money under the presumption that a crime was committed with the item. There is no requirement for due process. It is unconstitutional.

Teachers unions are focused on protecting teachers regardless of their competence. Steve Jobs wanted to break up the teacher's unions in the name of quality education.

Back in the Obama era, federal agents raided the Gibson gjuitar company, confiscating a lot of imported wood used to make nice guitars. Who was behind this bogus event?

How is Trump's threats against North Korea working out? It might just solve the problem.

Liberals want gun control. They want something both ineffective and impossible in America.

A remarkable injustice. Rapist named father of child and granted joint custody.

Supreme Court upcoming cases

There are a number of upcoming Supreme Court cases where Neil Gorsuch's conservative viewpoint may swing the balance. Possible appointment of a conservative justice swung the election to Trump.

Here's an interesting development. The government is suing Raleys because Raleys didn't accommodate an employees religious beliefs. This is the same government that sues photographers and bakers who refuse to service gay weddings. I guess if you are the government you can have it both ways.

According to the football player's contract, owners can fire them for conduct detrimental to the image of the game. Trump is right.

This CBS lawyer has no sympathy for the victims of the Las Vegas shooting. She says that most country music fans are republicans. She was fired of course.  More here.

Striking photos from the shooting

Ethiopia is building a huge dam that will more than double the nation's electricity supply. Egypt is worried that it will cut off the Nile River, the only reason Egypt exists.

Here's an article about the generational shift in oil and gas exploration, interesting to me since I work in the industry. But is this happening in other fields?

A very cool rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. But you have to wait to the end.
