The confrontation on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial

This is the best recap of the media's mishandling of the confrontation between the indian and the teenager.  I would also invite you to read the statement from the high schooler.

So far, this seems to be the biggest news event of the year. Most of the stories I read were about how the media completely botched the coverage. Here's a fun roundup:

John Browning was born on January 23, 1855.  You will immediately recognize why this man's birth is worth commemorating.

The Special Prosecutor investigation is surely about ready to wind up. What if Mueller doesn't give Democrats what they want?

Now that the Democrats own the House, they are going impeachment crazy. Now they want to impeach Brett Kavanaugh. These people are really disgusting and reflect badly on the people who vote for them.

Georg Elser was a lone wolf who almost stopped World War II.

Take a look at the 15 winners of Wikipedia's annual photo contest of the world.

By now, you may have seen the Gillette ad that attacks "toxic masculinity", whatever that it. It disparages men, which are the main customer base for Gillette razors. Many have called the ad stupid. It turns out the creative genius behind the ad is a radical feminist.

A woman defended herself against armed robbery by shooting the criminal with her legally concealed weapon. This liberal web site thinks that is wrong.

Second lady Karen Pence is teaching at a Christian school. The liberals are complaining because the school allegedly discriminates against LGBQT people and they don't think the wife of the Vice President should be doing that.

So many Democrats are running for President that jokesters are comparing them to the south of the border caravan. This writer is not impressed with the lackluster field.  Another writer referred to their "clown car".

Donald Trump is doing an amazing bunch of excellent things that get no notice in the media. Here's his progress on drug costs.

Jake Tapper outs Gillibrand’s immigration deceit, she responds with false history.

This is an older article by Andrew Sullivan about how democracies evolve as predicted by Plato. We were fortunate that this country's founders had read Plato and constructed barriers, but these barriers are breaking down in the face of real democracy.

The wall

CNN declined a report from a San Diego TV station because it said the wall was effective.

A small group of humans survived a super volcano that blocked out the sun for years.

The guided missile destroyer USS Fitzgerald collided with a commercial ship in 2017. The Navy covered up the report, but finally it's available. The Navy is in bad shape.

The Democrats want to impeach Trump, but disagreeing with conventional wisdom isn't a crime.

Here's a fun roundup of dinosaurs from around the world. The Thailand ones are the coolest.

The continuing saga of people rising up in anger over old tweets, and something interesting about Ahmadi Muslims.

Vice President Pence's wife is in trouble with liberals. She is teaching at a Christian School that doesn't allow LGBT teachers to work there.

A most successful cover up of FBI malfeasance. What happens if it never comes to light?  In the same vein, an epidemic of erasers, redactions and perjuries by the usual suspects.

30 Democrat lawmakers and 100 or so lobbyists are taking a jaunt to Puerto Rico during the shutdown. Do you think it got any news coverage?

Three Oklahoma teens were killed by the homeowner during a home invasion. The grandfather of one says it wasn't a fair fight because the homeowner had an AR-15.

A Campus Reform reporter interviewed a number of students to get their opinion of Trump's comments on immigration. They didn't like them, then were informed who really said the quotes.

The Navy railroaded a marine for war crimes for actions in Afghanistan. Now, they've apologized.

A video came out on the Internet of new senator Ocasio-Cortez dancing on a rooftop while in college. The video was actually quite cute and not something inappropriate for a college student. Then the media constructed a fake news report that she was being criticized by conservatives. Except they could find no examples.

Homeschoolers get a lot of bad press. Here's a story of one who struggled through life but did OK.

This author thinks Trump will win reelection and presents 10 reasons why.

There were a number of memes of Pelosi and Schumer after their response to Trump's oval office address.  You can see more here, but this is my favorite:

The plot to murder George Washington

Here's something I had never heard about: the plot to murder George Washington. More about the book here.

The SPLC used to be a worthy organization, advocating on behalf of justice. It has morphed into a liberal attack organization unworthy of its 501c tax status. Read about one lawyer defamed by them.

People make New Year's resolutions to eat healthy and lose weight. This is causing problems for salad restaurants.

The Chinese rover on the far side of the moon.

Trump was widely criticized for banning immigrants from some Muslim countries.  Seems like a good idea; see what's happening in Germany.

A fun review of the B-52, still in service coming up on 60 years operation.

On that same note, SAC deleted a tweet found objectionable by some snowflakes. Scroll down just to watch the video to see the B-2 at work.

As you know, the colleges are losing all touch with their mission. Here's a seminar on how to avoid judging the quality of writing by students.

Some geology news. Where did all the sediments go?  Don't these people know a flood when they see one?

2018 saw a global revolt against climate change policies. It seems fighting climate change hurts people who are not rich more than a little warmth.

Boulder Colorado is regulating guns. Apparently most gun owners are ignoring the new rules. Here's one person's reaction.

Transgender issues. A biological woman decided she was a man, got the treatments and the operations, and partnered with a gay person. Except she/he ended up a pregnant man. Disgusting.

On the other hand, Victor Davis Hanson rounds up reasons that 2018 was a pretty good year.

A bunch of containers washed off a ship, bringing fun treasure hunting to Dutch islanders.

Here's how one person avoided paying the death tax, perhaps the greatest act of tax evasion.

In Oregon, it's illegal to call yourself an "engineer" unless you have completed the requirements for certification as a professional engineer. There are a lot of engineers in Oregon and elsewhere who don't build bridges, and a judge just ruled that you can call yourself an engineer if you are one.

What happens when you take fluoride out of drinking water? Kids get more cavities.

Here's one authors roundup of the 20 most annoying liberals of 2018.

Jesus came at the right time.

Why the world was ready for Jesus arrival. The pieces were in place.

An interesting experience at the shooting range.

Here's a terrific underwater video from Fiji. Go full screen for best view.

Facebook has been criticized lately for banning speech.  They generally ban conservative thought. They even banned Franklin Graham for a post from 2016. Probably one of their 15,000 thought police didn't even know who Graham was.

Greenpeace's famous Rainbow Warrior is being cut up for scrap on a third-world beach.

Quotes from 2018. The 25 best and the 20 worst.  And a bonus, the Year in Review, McLaughlin Group Style.

Everyone is speculating on which Democrat will run for president in 2020. None of the potential candidates is very exciting, but could Bloomberg actually happen?

If you are reading my blog, you probably have an interest in conservative web sites.  Here's a list of the top fifty sites. Unfortunately, nobody has this much time.

Here's an idea for social justice warriors and other offended persons: stop whining.

First pictures of Ultima Thule, really far out objects in the solar system. Higher resolution coming as the data flows from New Horizons spacecraft.

Donald Trump is transforming the Democrats. Their principles seem to be different than they used to be, not that they really had principles.

Check out these Cane Toads hitchhiking on a python in Australia.

Chuck Todd's Sunday "Meet the Press" had a special program on climate change. He said they would not give any time to climate deniers to provide a balanced discussion.

Carbon Taxes

The riots in France are about carbon taxes, though you seldom hear that in the news. Here's more warning about carbon taxes.

Here's a pretty good history lesson about the changing attitude of Democrats on illegal immigration.

Victor Davis Hanson points out the illegality in the FISA warrants which were used to eavesdrop on Trump officials.

A historic image of the Earth rising over the lunar horizon remastered in color.  Or if you prefer, a video in real time of the Earth rising.

Leading Democrats are attacking the Knights of Columbus, a Catholic service organization.

Obama worked to destroy school discipline. Betsy DeVos is fixing that; it's a great thing.

If you are an iPhone fan, you might enjoy this review of every iPhone ever made.

Famously liberal city Seattle has a serious homeless problem. They spend $1B a year on homelessness; there are about 10,000 homeless people in Seattle. That's $100,000 per homeless person every year, enough to put them up in a nice middle class home.

If you're old like me, you remember the Pueblo. A case history on how not to handle a crisis.

This writer is suggesting that the investigations are actually a cover-up to protect the real criminals.

Planning to see the movie about Dick Cheney?  Christian Toto says it's liberal propaganda.

In 2013, virtually every Democrat Senator that's still around endorsed the border fence. Now that Trump wants it, they are opposed. The usual hypocrisy from politicians.

Dave Barry's annual year in review article.

Another edition of the worst fake news stories of 2018.

If a lawyer wrote "The Night Before Christmas".

The New York Times pulled some Christmas movie reviews out of the archives. The actual movies held up better than the reviews.

Speaking of Christmas movies, here's a Hallmark Christmas movie junkie.

Fake News

Der Spiegel is a major news magazine in Germany. They just fired one of their reporters for making up facts (what you might call “fake news”).  One of the stories was about Fergus Falls Minnesota, 30 miles from Chris' home town of Vining.

And don't miss the story by a Fergus Falls resident that outlined the 11 worst falsehoods in the story.

More on media incompetence: 18 things they got wrong in 2018.

Jarad Kushner is making serious progress on prison reform, something the politicians were unable to do despite agreement that it ought to be done.

Honda is a car company. One day they decide they might like to build a jet airplane on the order of the Honda Civic.  Here's a fascinating story about the process.

For the Christmas season: The Little Drummer Boy. LIve from Phoenix by For King and Country. Other Christmas Carols by the group will follow.

Last week there was a link to the what the author considered 10 worst Christmas songs of all time. Here's an update with what he thinks are the 8 best Christmas songs you have never heard.

This judge thinks the Justice Department colluded to protect Hillary Clinton in the email scandal.

Environmentalists are recognizing a flaw in their plans to save the world. One of them even acknowledges that nuclear power is the only clean solution.

Seldom do you see in the news that the French people are protesting that their taxes are being raised to solve global warming. Here's insight on understanding France.

Victor Davis Hanson on the lack of credibility in James Comey's testimony.

You've heard of porch pirates. It's much worse in San Francisco where 85% voted for Hillary.

You've seen in the news about all the attacks on Donald Trump. Nothing is being done about the Clinton Foundation with more egregious crimes.

Remember when you were young and wandered free in the neighborhood?  These days helicopter adults are doing dumb things to keep kids safe.

And finally:

The Clinton Foundation

Here's an update on the Clinton Foundation. It seems that Bill was unable to keep from mixing funds and donations have gotten a lot smaller since Hillary lost the election.

Michael Flynn was set up according to this author because he was on the wrong side of history.

The always insightful Victor Davis Hanson on the Mueller probe.

63 percent of ‘non-citizens’ are on welfare, confirmed by the census. Maybe Trump is right that illegal immigrants are a drain on taxpayer dollars.

President Bush's internment was honored with a flyover by 21 jets. You can watch the video here. That was nice, but they really should have rounded up one of those torpedo bombers that George Bush flew.  I saw one at Battle Lake Minnesota a couple of years ago at a modest little fly-in. When they unfolded the wings and fired up that big radial, the prop wash almost blew me over. There are plenty of flying Avengers around including one at the George H. W. Bush presidential library.

Donald Trump and his people are doing a thousand things to make America great again. These things stay under the radar because the media focuses on his tweets. One example is changes in the school lunch program, a disaster under Michelle Obama.

China continues its practice of persecuting Christians. A large number of worshippers were arrested.

A holiday without.  I almost didn't post this, but the explanation of why candy canes are unacceptable is too good to miss.

A newly discovered cave in Canada is like really big; big enough to fit the Statue of Liberty. There are some nice videos. Take note of the ones with people in the picture.  Also note how politically correct the Canadian geologists are.

A Dallas Cowboys football player dropped $21 into a Salvation Army kettle and the NFL fined him for unsportsmanlike conduct.  Where was the NFL when football players were kneeling during the National Anthem.

This gay journalist became a conservative. He found out that being conservative is worse than being gay.

This author has gathered up what he considers the 10 worst Christmas songs of all time.

You have migraines?  Here's a study on a good food supplement.

Here's an update on the continuing troubles on California's bullet train to nowhere.

Politicians always talk about "affordable housing".  There are a lot of ways to reduce the cost of housing, starting with the building codes, but the politicians are going the other way by requiring solar panels on all new homes.

More proof that college administrators are losing their minds. A law student was suspended because he has guns. In Texas of all places!
