Donald Trump’s Accomplishments as President, Part One

Absurdities of the McConnell-Schumer Omnibus Spending Bill. Congressional leaders have dropped 6,825 pages of text for their “omnibus” spending bill, plus explanatory materials that include a list of at least 4,000 earmarks, on the doorstep of every American family.

A Quiet Refutation of ‘Net Zero’ Carbon Emissions. Two energy reports show the U.S. is burdening and dismantling its grid to achieve an impossible goal.

Are Universities Doomed? Victor Davis Hanson on the decline of universities. Left-wing indoctrination, administrative bloat, obsessions with racial preferences, arcane, jargon-filled research, and campus-wide intolerance of diverse thought short-changed students, further alienated the public—and often enraged alumni. In a new low/high, Stanford recently enrolled 16,937 undergraduate and graduate students, but lists 15,750 administrative staff—in near one-to-one fashion.

Torrent of Taxes Sends New Yorkers Fleeing on Southbound Expressway. In March 2021, a study of New York found that its already staggeringly high tax burden had worsened due to an increase in the top marginal tax rate to almost 15% for those in New York City. The study projected that the flood of people leaving would only accelerate—and it did. And what do New Yorkers get for all these taxes? Roads smooth as glass? The best airports in the world? Trains running on time? Bulletproof electric grid and water infrastructure? Ample police to maintain safety and order? Not even close.

Remember Sam Brinton, the Energy Department official that likes to wear women's clothes? He stole a woman's suitcase at the Minneapolis Airport. Well, it seems he also did it in Las Vegas. I guess he just doesn't like to shop in ladies' boutiques. He doesn't seem to work at DOE anymore.

Twitter files #7: the FBI sets up the scam. When the Hunter Biden laptop story broke shortly before the 2020 election, I initially experienced a brief sense of relief. It had been a tense year, to be sure: COVID, then the Floyd riots, and with the election looming I had a gut feeling that the cognitively challenged, mendacious, corrupt, newly-minted leftist Joe Biden was going to win. Now, with this laptop story, maybe enough people were going to learn about more of the family corruption, and perhaps it would change the outcome.

I was at a Walmart this week that had remarkable security measures. I wanted to buy some T-shirts. They were locked behind a glass door. I had to find a clerk to open it for me. Once selected, I couldn't put them in my cart. The clerk had to take them up to a front counter for me to retrieve later. When checking out, I located my T-shirts up front. At that point, the clerk had to take them to the self-service register and actually scanned them for me to make sure I was going to pay for them. I was incredulous, but apparently theft is a big problem in this neighborhood. I happened on this article Walmart May Hike Prices and Close Stores Due to Theft. When did T-shirts become a security problem?

I don't normally post links to articles from liberal media, but here's an incredible report in Nature about some islanders winning a suit against Australia because of global warming. The rail company, however, opted to leave for the war-torn, yet “less politically dysfunctional” North African country.
