Freeman Dyson

A celebration of the life of nuclear physicist Freeman Dyson who made many serious contributions to science and was also a contrarian about global warming.

The Biden-Sanders debate was just full of bad economic theory, but one thing that stood out for me was Sanders claim that 500,000 people go bankrupt every year because of medical bills. The Washington Post gave that "three Pinocchios". Biden's economics are even worse with his proposal to end drilling for oil. Even this article understates the impact on the economy.

A cautionary tale on the Corona Virus from Italy.

How "flattening the curve" can help us deal with the Corona Virus.

Bill Gates is stepping down from the Board of Microsoft. The article is more interesting than it sounds.

Do you think people learn things in college? Elon Musk says college is for fun and not useful for knowledge. However, companies use it as a test in recruiting.

Joe Biden released his plan for combating the Corona Virus. It's full of promises that don't hold up in the face of reality, easy to say when you are running for office and harder to make happen when faced with reality

I had forgotten about former televangelist Jim Bakker. Apparently he's out of jail and has a TV show selling medicine to cure the Corona Virus. He got a warning letter from the FDA. He should go back to jail.

Recycling is a boondoggle, created to make liberals feel good, based on false claims that we were running out of places to dump garbage.  Now that China has wised up, it's not working well. The solutions proposed are of course are to tax consumers to subsidize uneconomic solutions when it could just be thrown away cheaply.

Everyone is familiar with Van Gogh's painting Starry Night, but the inspiration was Millet's painting of a starry night, quite different than Van Gogh's. Here is Van Gogh's less famous Starry Night painting.

Joe Biden is having focus troubles during his television live town hall event. Some of the difficulties were technical according to the staff. This author is questioning Biden's ability to perform in the campaign because of his diminished mental capacity. Bernie was hoping this would happen during last Sunday's mano-a-mano debate, but Joe held up pretty well (ignoring of course that his solutions were total BS and unworkable).

In 1665, the University of Cambridge temporarily closed due to the bubonic plague. Isaac Newton had to work from home, and he used this time to develop calculus and the theory of gravity

Why are so many billionaires escaping to a small town in Wyoming? And what are their favorite jeans?

Joe Biden's plan to handle the virus. He claims he would do it better. It takes a lot of gall to blast Trump’s response to the coronavirus and then call for the exact same courses of action Trump has taken and try to pass it off as your own plan
