Twitter files #7: the FBI sets up the scam. When the Hunter Biden laptop story broke shortly before the 2020 election, I initially experienced a brief sense of relief. It had been a tense year, to be sure: COVID, then the Floyd riots, and with the election looming I had a gut feeling that the cognitively challenged, mendacious, corrupt, newly-minted leftist Joe Biden was going to win. Now, with this laptop story, maybe enough people were going to learn about more of the family corruption, and perhaps it would change the outcome.

I was at a Walmart this week that had remarkable security measures. I wanted to buy some T-shirts. They were locked behind a glass door. I had to find a clerk to open it for me. Once selected, I couldn't put them in my cart. The clerk had to take them up to a front counter for me to retrieve later. When checking out, I located my T-shirts up front. At that point, the clerk had to take them to the self-service register and actually scanned them for me to make sure I was going to pay for them. I was incredulous, but apparently theft is a big problem in this neighborhood. Why the Afghanistan Withdrawal Was the Perfect Storm of Bureaucratic Incompetence

Why the Afghanistan Withdrawal Was the Perfect Storm of Bureaucratic Incompetence. The botched withdrawal wasn’t a mistake or a one-time bad call. The catastrophe occurred due to consistent and specific inept leadership failures at the Department of Defense, Department of State, the White House, and the Intelligence Community. Failure to plan. Failure to be realistic about the strength and capabilities of the Taliban. Failure to adequately prepare and vet people to get them out of the country before the U.S. military departed.

A Kamala Harris staff exodus reignites questions about her leadership style — and her future ambitions. So, the normally reliably liberal Washington Post is trying to cancel Kamala. There must be something going on.

We have been following the reports on the shootings in downtown Sacramento last weekend, which left six people dead and injured a dozen more.  It’s clear now that the shooting was the result of a conflict among groups of people that turned into a gun battle on a crowded street filled with patrons leaving as bars closed. As the investigation continues, Sacramento police assert gang violence as at the heart of the incident.

Biden's Latest Pervy Comment May Be the Most Awkward Yet

It only took a year and a half, but now that their side can’t lose an election over the issue the New York Times has finally capitulated to the truth and run a story admitting that yes, Hunter Biden’s laptop computer was abandoned at a repair shop in Delaware and yes, the laptop contained all the atrocious stuff the New York Post reported on back in the fall of 2020. Here's what the WSJ has to say.

Roger Kimball thinks Biden’s Handlers Are Preparing to Eject Him (and Kamala). They must replace him, otherwise they themselves risk being replaced, which would be intolerable.

Self-Destructive Disney Finds a New (More Permanent) Way to Terrify Children. “In a featured presentation at the meeting, executive producer Latoya Raveneau laid out Disney’s ideology in blunt terms. She said her team was implementing a ‘not-at-all-secret gay agenda’ and regularly  ‘adding queerness’ to children’s programming. Another speaker, production coordinator Allen Martsch, said his team has created a ‘tracker’ to ensure that they are creating enough “canonical trans characters, canonical asexual characters, [and] canonical bisexual characters.’ Corporate president Karey Burke said she supported having ‘many, many, many LGBTQIA characters in our stories’ and reaffirmed the company’s pledge to make at least 50 percent of its on-screen characters sexual and racial minorities.”

Did you ever think you’d hear people as nasty as Bill Maher and Trevor Noah praise Donald Trump, but that’s what’s happening? Faced with the grim reality that Joe Biden has a head full of pudding and commands no respect from any corner of a dangerous world, these two are finally missing the 45th president of the United States.

Today it was revealed that Amazon is closing its downtown Seattle office, with 1,800 employees, because of out-of-control crime. Among other recent victims of downtown crime was an Amazon engineer who was assaulted with a baseball bat near the office in late January. To learn this story you had to go to the Daily Mail in London. As of this writing, the Seattle Times has nothing on the story at their home page or business page.

Russian forces are killing civilians and looting stores and homes across occupied parts of southern Ukraine. The last sentence has an important message for the anti-gun lobby: “Every time they see Ukrainians in a car, they demand to be given food and cigarettes, and then they let you through,” she said. “Our people can’t refuse because the Russian soldiers point guns at them. Our people have no guns.”

A rapid Russian advance into the strategic southern town of 35,000 people, a gateway to a Ukrainian nuclear power station and pathway to attack Odessa from the back, would have showcased the Russian military’s abilities and severed Ukraine’s key communications lines. Instead, the two-day battle of Voznesensk, turned decisively against the Russians. Judging from the destroyed and abandoned armor, Ukrainian forces, which comprised local volunteers and the professional military, eliminated most of a Russian battalion tactical group on March 2 and 3.

Victor Davis Hanson lists Bidens efforts to make the US dependent on foreign oil. The Biden Administration stopped all gas and oil production in the ANWR region of Alaska. KAMALA HARRIS EXPLAINS HOW SANCTIONS WILL DETER RUSSIA FROM AN INVASION THEY’VE ALREADY DECIDED ON: “Abso – we strongly believe – and remember also that the sanctions are a product not only of our perspective as the United States, but a shared perspective among our allies, and the allied relationship is such that we have agreed that the deterrence effect of these sanctions is still a meaningful one, especially because remember also, we still sincerely hope that there is a diplomatic path out of this moment. And within the context, then, of the fact that that window is still opening – open, although it is absolutely narrowing, but within the context of a diplomatic path still being open, the deterrence effect we believe has merit.”

Joe Rogan said he didn’t vote for Joe Biden in 2020 and that the former vice president is “basically a shell” cognitively and “can’t talk right anymore.” You guys don’t see that this guy can’t, he can’t talk right anymore?’ Go watch videos of him from twenty years ago. He was a dummy, he said a lot of silly shit, he lied about a bunch of things, but at least he was articulate.”

How Ukraine Was Betrayed in Budapest. Kyiv gave up its nuclear weapons in return for security assurances. So much for that. The most important was to “reaffirm their obligation to refrain from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of Ukraine.” They also pledged to “refrain from economic coercion” against Ukraine and to “seek immediate United Nations Security Council action to provide assistance to Ukraine” in the event of an “act of aggression” against the country. Ukraine had returned all of the nuclear weapons to Russia by 1996.

Eighteen-year-old free ski champion Eileen Gu gave China its first women’s gold medal of the 2022 Winter Olympics on Tuesday, becoming the breakout star of the least-watched Games in TV history. Why did a top American athlete who claims to be socially conscious, who benefited tremendously from growing up in the United States, choose to play for a brutal totalitarian government with one of the worst human rights records on the planet?

Biden’s war on fossil fuels has strengthened Putin and weakened America. And a list of the many great things Trump did. President Donald Trump opened 100 million acres of public land and water, including the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, to exploration. He withdrew from the Paris climate accord, approved the Keystone XL pipeline between the United States and Canada, and rolled back Obama-era regulations such as the Clean Power Plan that held back domestic exploration and production. Trump’s policy was “drill, baby drill.” The result? On his watch, the United States supplanted Russia and Saudi Arabia as the world’s largest oil producer.

This story needs to be told again and again. The New York Times Hasn’t Always Cared About Ukrainians. The Times is pushing this Russia-love narrative both to salvage some political gain from Biden’s catastrophic foreign policy and to cover for its own historic indifference to the Ukrainian people.

From today's Wall St. Journal:

Your editorial reminded me of an incident in the mid-1970s, when I was a young university professor. I received a memo from the university’s Equal Opportunity Office concerning a promotional brochure that I had prepared. I was informed that I had omitted the statement that the university “is an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer.”

I asked for clarification: An equal-opportunity employer is one who will not discriminate in hiring because of race, but an affirmative-action employer is one that will discriminate on race. Could the staff member help me reconcile these conflicting statements? After some hesitation and fumbling, he told me: “Well, some people need more help than others.”
